Champions League is back

Champions League is back

Barça are back on the Champions League trail with the away leg of their last 16 tie against Olympique Lyon (8.45 pm, Antena 3). 2,100 Barça fans will be supporting their team in France.
Barça are back to Champions League duty after a two and a half month break. After getting through the group stages as leader and top goalscorer in the entire competition, now it’s time for the knock-out rounds where they are taking on seven-time French champions Olympique Lyon. Both teams play attractive football which means a pretty exciting 180 minutes lies ahead.

Gerland part two

Olympique Lyon and Barça went head-to-head last season in group E. Then the Catalans came out on top as group leader with a 3-0 win at Camp Nou and a worthy 2-2 draw in Lyon. But those two games will have little impact on the knock-out tie that begins this evening at Gerland.

Not alone

Barça, who had previously been in fine form, come into the game on the back of picking up just one point out of the last six in the League and a painful defeat in Saturday’s city derby. However, they’ll have the support of 2,100 fans who are travelling to Lyon to cheer on their heroes. Guardiola will be missing the injured Iniesta, Milito and Abidal, who will not be able to play against his former club.

Olympique Lyon

Lyon are probably playing the best they have done so far this season. They are riding high at the top of Ligue 1 six points ahead of Paris SG and are unbeaten in ten games in all competitions. Their key player, alongside Juninho, is Karim Benzema who tops the Champions League goal scoring table alongside Messi, Gerrard and Klose with five strikes.
