An early prognosis discovered that the injury was to the femoral bicep in his left leg that happened as he sprinted for the ball three minutes before the break. Messi knew that he had done something and called to the bench for assistance and was replaced by Giovani Dos Santos.

Begiristain regrets the injury

Txiki Begiristain spoke at half-time about his disappointment at the injury. “It is the worst thing that could have happened,” he said. “He is a player that gives us balance and is in great form.
