Miraculous Getafe stun Barça

Miraculous Getafe stun Barça

Getafe CF staged an extraordinary comeback to beat FC Barcelona 4-0 to snatch a place in their first ever Copa Del Rey final despite having losing the first leg 5-2.
Europe beckons
Barcelona, who have won the competition 24 times, were comprehensively dismantled by their modest opponents, who claimed a thoroughly deserved and yet remarkable 6-5 aggregate win. The victory is doubly sweet for Bernd Schuster's side as they are all but guaranteed a place in the first round of the UEFA Cup next season as they face treble-chasing Sevilla FC in the final at the Estádio Bernabeu on 23 June.
Getafe onslaught
Getafe laid siege to the Barça goal from the very start, but despite creating a succession of chances did not take the lead until seven minutes before the break when midfielder Francisco Casquero volleyed home after a corner. Five minutes later striker Daniel Güiza added a second, clipping the ball past goalkeeper Albert Jorquera after an error by defender Gianluca Zambrotta.
Guiza finish
Midfielder Ángel Vivar Dorada put Getafe ahead on the away goals rule 25 minutes into the second half when he got in front of the Barça defence to head in after a free-kick and Güiza added the icing on the cake with a breakaway fourth after yet another piece of poor defending by the out-of-sorts Catalan rearguard.
