Levski shock at first-half collapse
The PFC Levski Sofia coach Stanimir Stoilov said his side "were in shock" after 18-year-old goalkeeper Nikolay Mihaylov conceded the softest of opening goals against Werder Bremen, who added two more in quick succession to win 3-0 and leapfrog FC Barcelona in Group A. Stoilov knows the teenager's day will come, while Bremen's Thomas Schaaf is simply looking forward to forthcoming tussles against the leaders Chelsea FC and Barça.
Stanimir Stoilov, Levski coach Nikolay is very young and it is normal to make mistakes. The type of goal he let in happen once in ten years and he cannot take the blame as he lacks experience. The club will stick by him and will support him in every way possible. Hopefully in the future fortune will be on his side. We played well until the first goal, after which we were in shock and for a strong team like Bremen it was easy to score two more goals. Now we have to play for pride in the games against Barcelona and Chelsea. Tomas Schaaf, Werder Bremen coachIt was not an easy game for us. After the first goal we piled more pressure on Levski and then scored two more. I don't think the Levski goalkeeper's blunder decided the outcome of the game. Such things happen in football. Mihaylov is a young goalkeeper, he has a lot to learn and the future is ahead of him. In the second half we wanted to attack more and Diego hit the post, but Levski threw everything into attack and we had to be careful in defence. Obviously, the draw between Barcelona and Chelsea is welcome for us, but we must rely on ourselves in the last two games if we want to go through.
