Double delight for Ronaldinho

Double delight for Ronaldinho

Two goals by Ronaldinho helped FC Barcelona to a 3-1 comeback win against Real Zaragoza as they replaced Sevilla FC at the top of Primera División. However, victory came at a price for Barcelona, who saw Lionel Messi limp off with a suspected foot fracture which could rule him out of action for months.

Ronaldinho brace
Zaragoza took the lead in the first half at the Camp Nou when defender Gabriel Milito volleyed home while unmarked from a corner but Ronaldinho levelled after another corner when he headed in the equaliser before the break. Milito was later sent off in the same minute as Barcelona's Thiago Motta, although they were involved in separate incidents. Brazilian superstar Ronaldinho set up the victory with one of his dead-ball specialities from the edge of the area and he hit the crossbar with another free-kick deep into added time but Javier Saviola was on hand to head in the rebound to complete the scoring.

Dutchman flying
Dutch striker Ruud van Nistelrooy scored four times, including a first-half hat-trick, as his goals proved more than enough to see off CA Osasuna in a 4-1 away victory for Real Madrid CF. Van Nistelrooy’s second hat-trick of the season helped him become joint top scorer in Spain on eight goals, with the pick of the bunch being his fourth, a sublime curling effort into the top corner. The result saw Real move into third place on 20 points, three points behind leaders Barcelona and two adrift of second-placed Sevilla. UEFA Cup holders Sevilla were held to a 0-0 draw at Real Racing Club Santander, with goalkeeper Andrés Palop by far their busiest player as he kept Racing at bay.

Prats error
Getafe CF profited from a mistake by Real Mallorca goalkeeper Toni Prats as midfielder Nacho scored to give Bernd Schuster's side a 1-0 home win. Capi scored a last-gasp winner for Real Betis Balompié in their 2-1 victory at home against Levante UD and RC Recreativo de Huelva won 2-1 at an out-of-sorts RC Celta de Vigo. Bottom club Real Sociedad de Fútbol drew 1-1 with RCD Espanyol to pick up only their third point of the season while the team above them, CG Tarragona, ended a run of seven straight defeats in the league and cup as they drew 0-0 with RC Deportivo La Coruña.
